Smell Like Dirt

In Spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” Margaret Atwood

LBJ’s

Don’t write off those Little Brown Jobs in your backyard as boring. Do a little research to see if they have a story to tell. We love to hear the white throated sparrows show up each fall. Their call of “Old Sam Peabody, Peabody, Peabody” makes me smile when I hear it. I thought I was seeing male and female birds, the male having a whiter strip and a “yellower” eye dot, but I was wrong! Watch this video and find out why!

I just watched the video on the LBJ’s and I must say I had no idea white throated sparrows had different colored eye stripes. It’s true what you said……you shouldn’t dismiss the boring because you never know what interesting facts lie beneath that boring exterior.

I don’t usually ignore sparrows but I have great admiration for those who can identify them. There are only a few that I truly know what they are.

Thanks for sharing the sparrow information. I, for one, will tuck it away and hopefully be able to share it with someone else one day.
